Union’s Findley leads local lifters at state meet

Kaylee Findley had the highest finish of a group of six Union County and Bradford weightlifters competing at the Feb. 7 Florida High School Athletic Association Finals in Kissimmee.

Findley, a UCHS senior, had a 370-pound total (215 bench press, 155 clean and jerk) to place 10th in the unlimited class.

UCHS senior Jessica Brown and UCHS sophomore Kayla Geraghty placed 14th in their respective classes. Brown had a 305 total (170, 135) in the 154 class, while Geraghty had a 315 total (170, 145) in the 183 class.

BHS junior Kierston Boatwright placed 17th in the 110 class with a 225 total (110, 115).

Karen Clark, a BHS senior, also competed in the 110 class, placing 23rd with a 200 total (110, 90).

UCHS sophomore Latiyah McDonald placed 22nd in the 169 class with a 265 total (150, 115).

Medallions were awarded to the top six lifters in each weight class.
