The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said its deputies uncovered a Crescent City marijuana farm and an Interlachen methamphetamine operation Thursday, April 25.

The agency said in a press release that deputies, along with Crescent City police, found approximately 850 marijuana plants near West Grand Rondo Road.  Each plant was approximately four feet tall. Deputies estimated that each were worth around $1,000.

Officers collected all the plants and the investigation continues into who grew the illicit shrubs.

In Interlachen, deputies arrested Matthew Willis, 50, of Hollister for five counts of possession of drugs and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.  The sheriff’s office said in a press release that deputies found evidence Willis had manufactured over 80 batches of methamphetamine on the site.

Sheriff Jeff Hardy said his office received tips about possible drug activity in the area.

“We took the complaints seriously,” he said, “and ultimately we were able to apprehend the suspect.”
