Bradford High School was able to cut an 18-point deficit to six, but was unable to overtake Santa Fe in the end, losing 54-42 in the semifinals of the District 5-4A girls’ basketball tournament on Jan. 30 at P.K. Yonge in Gainesville.

The Tornadoes (13-12) trailed 43-25, but Faith Anderson made all three free-throw attempts after being fouled on a 3-point shot with 31 seconds left in the third quarter to start a 12-0 run. Tracey Kemp had two baskets during that span, the second of which made the score 43-37 early in the fourth quarter.

Santa Fe maintained its lead, though, as Bradford committed turnovers on six straight trips down the floor in the latter stages of the game.

Kemp led the Tornadoes with 15 points, while Nyasia Davis had 13.

Bradford was the last area team with a hope of making the regional playoffs. Keystone Heights lost 40-33 to Fort White in the quarterfinals of the District 5 tournament, while Union County lost 52-32 to Dixie County in the quarterfinals of the District 7-1A tournament.
