New construction in Clay County: up 24 percent
Clay County Property Appraiser Roger Suggs said new construction in the county increased to $172.1 million during 2014, from $138.3 million the previous year.
In a press release, announcing the county’s taxable value estimates, Suggs said 2014’s $172.1 million was still far short of the 2006 peak of $650 million.
Green Cove Springs led the way among the county’s four municipalities with $7.5 million in new construction during 2014. Orange Park’s tally was $1.4 million while Keystone Heights had $18,603 in new construction. Suggs did not release a figure for Penney Farms.
