Middleburg man who pulled gun on deputies accused of sex crimes

The State Attorney’s Office has charged the Middleburg man who pulled a gun on deputies May 1 with capital sexual battery.

Prosecutors also accused  Thomas Lee Adams, 60, with knowingly showing obscene material to a minor.

A Clay County sheriff’s Lieutenant struck Adams in the head with a weapon after the 60-year-old pointed a 9 mm handgun at the lawman, according to an arrest report.

The sheriff’s office said it was at Adams’ home to assist Florida’s Department of Children and Families remove a child from the residence.

The charges against Adams are not proven and he is presumed innocent until adjudicated guilty by  a court.
