Keystone Heights High School senior Nate Smith accepted a scholarship to play football at Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Ky., signing his paperwork during a May 31 ceremony in the KHHS cafeteria.

Smith said he was happy and surprised to get a chance this late into the year. The opportunity came about through Athletes for College, a marketing company that helps athletes find scholarship opportunities at colleges at all levels.

Now, Smith a defensive end/tight end who will probably start out at linebacker at Kentucky Christian, gets one more chance to suit up.

“It’s going to be nice because I’ve missed being in pads since my senior year,” he said. “I get to go back out there and play the sport I love.”
