Keystone’s Relay for Life set for Friday and Saturday

Relay for Life of Keystone Heights is scheduled for this weekend at the Keystone Heights Jr/Sr High School track and field.

Relay For Life events are promoted by the American Cancer Society.  Its purpose is to honor those that have survived the battle with cancer, to remember those that have lost their battle with cancer and raise awareness, support and funds to continue the fight against cancer.

Beginning Friday night, relay teams will camp out overnight at KHHS and take turns walking or running the track.  The event spans the night to symbolize a willingness to fight against a disease that never sleeps.

The two day schedule includes:

Friday, 2 p.m.- Setting up the field and relay preparation

Friday, 6 p.m.- Opening ceremonies

Friday, 6:30 p.m-. Survivor stories, survivor and caregiver lap

Friday, 7 p.m.- Survivor dinner

Friday, 9 p.m.- Luminary ceremony

Friday-Saturday:  Spirit laps through the night

Saturday, 8 a.m.- Breakfast- all community members welcome! $5.00 donation

Saturday, 10:30 a.m.- Closing ceremonies

There will be performances by Mid Life Crisis, Jake Calhoun and Soul Connections, North Florida Elite Cheer Squad, belly dancing and other live performances.

Bounce houses, games, raffles, prizes, food and fun are all to be enjoyed at the relay this Friday night and Saturday morning.

This is a family friendly event, although regulations require that pets remain at home during the relay.

All ages are encouraged to attend. There is something that everyone will be able to enjoy at relay.
