Keystone’s 1st scarecrow

State Farm agent W.D. Beck displayed Keystone’s first scarecrow last week on South S.R. 21. The city’s Community Redevelopment Advisory Board is promoting the Scarecrow Strut, in which businesses and organizations display themed scarecrows in front of their establishments. Organizations can also compete in the categories of most creative, best personality, SchOOLest, best military theme, most recycled materials and fan favorite. Votes by local shoppers will award organizations for their creations in the same way floats are judged in a parade. Advisory board chair Deidre Murphy said she hoped the event will draw visitors to the city and generate excitement for the fall season.
