Keystone planning board passes flood ordinance

Monitor Editor

The Keystone Heights Planning and Zoning Board approved, during a Jan. 13 meeting, a new flood ordinance to comply with Federal Emergency Management Agency Requirements.

The new law, which regulates construction within FEMA-designated floodplains, now goes to the city council for final approval. The Keystone Heights ordinance is similar to a Clay County law considered by the county commission earlier in January that applies to unincorporated areas of the county.

In other business, the planning and zoning board put off selecting a new chair and vice chair  because two board members were not at the Jan. 13 meeting.
