KEYSTONE HEIGHTS — The city will hold a workshop on Thursday, Feb. 18 to discuss potential changes to South Lawrence Boulevard. The municipality’s engineering firm, Michael Baker International will host the workshop. Topics for the session include parking, traffic calming, landscaping, pedestrian safety and business visibility.

In July, the city council looked at a South Lawrence Boulevard improvement proposal by city planner Susan Fraser that would have built a northbound, right turning lane from South Lawrence Boulevard onto Walker Avenue (S.R. 100). The plan also featured traffic calming devices called bulbouts, which slows traffic by narrowing streets.

Later in the year, council members heard a second proposal by Michael Baker’s Jamie Sloboden, who has extensive experience in traffic engineering. Sloboden recommended the workshop to solicit opinions from the public, particularly business owners along South Lawrence Boulevard.

The 6 p.m. event will take place at the beach pavilion. For more information, contact city hall at 352-473-4807.
