Detective White’s daughter leads the way for memorial bike riders

LEU Ride Send Off 2

The daughter of a Clay County detective killed in the line of duty launched a memorial bicycle ride that honored her father. The five-year-old daughter of David and Jennifer White jumped on her little pink bicycle and led the way for a group of law enforcement officers from across the United States who are part of the Law Enforcement United bike ride.

The group of ten officers volunteered to ride their bicycles in honor of Detective David White and for all fallen officers as part of the annual ride that ends in Washington, DC during Police Memorial Week.

Detective White was killed Feb. 16, 2012 while investigating a suspected methamphetamine lab in Middleburg.

Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Jose Medina of Jacksonville coordinated the special send-off and worked closely with the White Family to include the fallen detective’s daughter.

The riders followed White around the Clay County Sheriff’s Office  parking lot in Green Cove Springs before departing onto U.S. Highway 17.

The White Family will reunite with  Trooper Medina, along with hundreds of other bike riders in Washington, May 13th.
