Deputies: man threatened to shoot neighborhood children

Bradford deputies arrested a 57-year-old Graham man Dec. 18 after he allegedly threatened to shoot neighborhood children.

James C. Fields was charged with aggravated assault and facilitating or furthering terrorism.

The charges against Fields are unproven and he is presumed innocent until adjudicated guilty by a judge.

Sheriff’s Capt. Brad Smith wrote in a release that his office received a tip from Governor Rick Scott’s office that Fields had been making the threats.

A deputy said that when he interviewed Fields about the allegations, the 57-year-old repeated the threats.  Smith said the deputy immediately took the man into custody.

Smith added that law enforcement has had previous contact with Fields including resisting arrest and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
