Clay County deputies arrested a Plantation Oaks Elementary School teacher after the school’s counselor found cocaine in the instructor’s purse, according to an arrest report.

Deputies charged Ashlea Meshel Eucker, 23 with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

The charges against Eucker are not proven and she is presumed innocent until adjudicated guilty by a court.

According to an arrest report, the teacher was meeting with administrators in the principal’s office of the Orange Park elementary school on April 24.  During the meeting, the school’s principal, Lee Oliver gave Euker the rest of the day off.  When the school’s guidance counselor, Priscilla Dobson went back to Eucker’s classroom to retrieve the teacher’s purse, she saw a small baggie containing a white substance within the handbag and a straw protruding out of the baggie through the purse.

Administrators then called deputies, who interviewed Eucker, took possession of the evidence, and transported the suspect to the Clay County Jail.
