Bradford High School senior Taylor Cruce received a scholarship from the College of Central Florida to continue her softball career after high school, and the Feb. 6 signing ceremony in the BHS media center brought about a mix of feelings.

“Very emotional, overwhelmed and excited,” Cruce said.

The third baseman admitted she didn’t want to go on a visit to the College of Central Florida at first, saying she was nervous. She did go, however, and everything worked out as far as coming to find she liked the coaches and the school itself overall.

“When I took a tour of the campus, I just fell in love,” Cruce said. “It felt like home.”

Bradford head coach Daniel Davis said Cruce has “been a great player from the day she stepped on campus” and that she is probably one of the hardest-working players he’s coached. Earning a scholarship came though no small effort.

“Every single practice she’ll stay an hour after and hit no matter what day it is,” Davis said. “She’s earned everything she’s gotten.”
