Arrest made in hit-and-run of Starke woman
The Florida Highway Patrol said it arrested a 47-year-old Middleburg man today, resulting from a Thursday night hit-and-run, at a Middleburg convenience store.
Vincent Joseph Cangiamilla was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious, bodily injury and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
According to an FHP report, Patricia P. Hutchinson, 65, of Starke was walking across the parking lot of the Kangaroo Express at CR 215 and SR 21 between Middleburg and Camp Blanding around 9:45, when she was struck by a 2003 Buick Rendezvous, as the vehicle backed out of a parking space. The driver sped away and Hutchinson was transported by Clay County Fire Rescue to a hospital with critical injuries.
Several witnesses gave law-enforcement officers a description of the vehicle. Investigators found the Buick several hours later at a nearby residence.
