5 arrested in Green Cove Springs investigation

Clay deputies, Green Cove Springs Police, and other law enforcement agencies arrested five men the agencies said ran an organized theft ring.

Abas Issa, 45, of Orange Park was charged with five counts of  organized dealing in stolen property.

Yousef Issa, 41, of Fleming Island was charged with three counts of  organized dealing in stolen property.

Antoun Arbaji, 35, of Jacksonville was charged with three counts of organized dealing in stolen property.

Emad Abduljaber, 46, of Jacksonville was charged with  dealing in stolen property.

George Salameh,  54, of Jacksonville is being charged with various federal violations.

The charges against the five are not proven and they are presumed innocent until adjudicated guilty by a court.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Green Cove Springs police started investigating the group in June, 2011. The sheriff’s office said that during undercover operations, law enforcement officers saw the defendants purchase stolen merchandise.

In addition to the arrests, officers executed search warrants on businesses owned by the Abas Issa and Yousef Issa: the V&J Store, Green Cove Wireless and More and a laundry mat, located on Orange Avenue in Green Cove Springs.

Officers and agents from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement , U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Internal Revenue Service and Homeland Security participated in the investigation.
